American Medicine, Take Note!

So, as promised, the lady from the lab s'est déplacée à domicile (made a house call) this morning for my beta test. I wanted to take a picture of all the accoutrements of blood-letting on our dining table, but it seemed a little weird to be pulling out my phone to document while she was sitting there. Yes, I've done it before, but last time it was when she (a different she) was out of the room. And so I offer you my post-withdrawal arm as evidence. Not the most flattering shot--hey, everybody, I have a mole!--but I do like me some photographic illustration.

On a lexical note, it makes me chuckle that the French word for the drawing of blood, prélèvement, is the same as the word for money that is taken directly out of your bank account every month (to pay your cell phone bill, for example). So it's actually sort of related. Except it's every few days. Stay tuned for results late this afternoon or tonight my time (depending on whether I decide to blog while I'm in class), and let's hope my beta has decreased significantly.

  1. Hello, visiting from LFCA.. I'm sorry for your loss. Though it feels weird to say, only in the land of IF does this make any sense: I hope your beta has gone down significantly.

  2. Dude, I wish a nurse could have come to my house instead of having to trek to the RE's every Monday morning at 8am while I was waiting for 10 weeks for my beta to clear. So yeah...small blessings.
